about

Hello! Im Matt - a freelance photographer and graphic designer based in the South West of England with a passion for helping individuals, start-ups and established businesses reach their visual potential.

My inspiration comes from the urban landscape – the energy, the chaos, the unexpected beauty. I translate that energy into my work, finding ways of breaking down the clutter with clean lines and conceptual clarity.

My creative journey over the years has navigated from political graphics that art school tears out of you, to a style that simplifies the busy, still holding on to fundamentals from artists such as Frank Warren and Barbara Kruger.

Through my twenties I set upon an ancestral journey, holding on to memories and stories of family members we now speak of in the past tense. This exploration of my family history revealed the very foundation of who I am today, and how I approach my art.

Whilst travelling through North Western Europe discovering fascinating but, also useless facts about my family gone-by, I was also exposed to a typographic and photo feast.

From the visionary work of Knud Valdemar Engelhardt who sculpted the typography behind Denmark's street signs to the photography of Wolfgang Tillmans which for me blurred the lines between graphic design and photography.
